Youth Rights Voice and Resources Page

If you live in the United States, Canada and some European countries, you live in a democracy. That means that people are supposed to be guaranteed freedom and certain rights as human beings. BUT! There is a catch! Often that freedom and democracy is not given to kids under the age of 18. Why? Because kids have no political or voting power, and they are under the control of parents and schools. Most websites for kids try to exploit kids’ love for the latest clothing styles, music and gadgets by trying to get your business so they can sell their products. Not many web pages actually tell kids about their rights. This is a page for young people who wish to learn more about their human rights, and how to get involved with youth-led efforts for democracy and freedom. This website also welcomes writing and artwork from young people on the theme of human rights for young people and how kids think children and adolescents should be treated by parents, teachers and society in general. This site also welcomes your personal stories of what you’ve experienced as it relates to the subjects on this website. You may see your stuff published on this site!

Your letters, personal experiences, articles and artwork are welcomed here! Tell people what its like to be a kid stuck in school all day with adults directing your every move, and telling you what you have to learn and what you can’t learn about... or what it is like to have a mean teacher, insensitive parent or cruel peers... or what it means to have cool teachers, caring parents or good friends... or tell what it means to live in a society that treats kids differently than adults... or tell what it means to be in foster care, wishing for a loving family, or finding one... or anything else on your mind!
